My mixed media collages are part of an on-going series based mostly (but not all of the time) on my travels. My job as Resident Artist for an art materials manufacturer leads me to many places near and far as does the travel I embark on purely for pleasure. It’s seeing new places and meeting new people that make me want to collect images from these travels and the result ends up being a much more complete record of where I’ve been, what I’ve seen, and the memories I hold dear.

History also plays a large role in the direction of these works. Whether I’m traveling in Europe or across the United States I find myself imagining what the surrounding areas were once like and who walked the roads and pathways before me. Mixed media collage provides me the perfect opportunity to ponder these questions and daydream while I continually handle and juxtapose the components I’ve collected. In this way a narrative unfolds that is even more powerful than the original inspiration.
